Our Teenage Girls and Boys programs take care of Korogocho Slum girls and boys who are between 13yrs to17 yrs. The purpose of the initiative is to break the rampant teenage motherhood and fatherhood in the community which has robbed many of their potential and motivation to reach their desired goals.
Destiny Shapers Foundation assists in connecting teenagers with mentors who may be a valuable asset for their academic success, career development, and emotional health. We assist teenagers in dealing with negative peer pressure, drug use and abuse, broken families, sexual abuse and harassment, and us of vulgar language among other vices that prevail in the community. We endeavor to build their self-esteem and transform their mindset.
On top of that, during the forums, we provide them with food, and essential items like sanitary towels, tissue papers, bar soaps, panties, underwears, vests, and t-shirts. This has been successful courtesy of various stakeholders who have partnered with us in giving the items.
As a result, a significant impact of the Mentorship Program is being felt in Korogocho. Teenagers’ self-esteem, academic achievement, and attendance at class have all increased.
With the visible transformation of the 50 boys and 50 girls already in the program, we are facing the challenge of enrolling more due to the constraints in funds.
We seek more partnerships to mentor and transform more boys and girls and thereby create a huge impact in the whole community.
